Alpha Olefin Sulfonate
Alpha olefin sulfonate (AOS) is an anionic surfactant that is used in household detergents, personal care products and industrial cleaning formulations. It has good cleaning, wetting, emulsifying and foaming properties, and the foam it produces stays stable under various formulation conditions.
AOS also performs well in hard water and helps disperse calcium soap deposits, so it can be added into laundry powders, liquid laundry detergents, and phosphate-free detergent formulations. It can be used with a wide variety of commonly employed surfactants and when combined with them it is possible to modify the cleaning power, the foam properties, and other requirements specified for various final products.
