Layered Sodium Silicate (ECORICH)

Phosphate-Free Alternative to STPP for Washing Powder and Detergent

Layered Sodium Silicate

Layered sodium silicate is a phosphate-free additive made through advanced high-tower, high-pressure spray technology, with an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons. Its fast solubility and reliable performance in use have made it a widely used alternative to sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) in washing powder and detergent formulations. In addition to detergent applications, layered sodium silicate is also used in textile printing, dyeing, and other related auxiliary formulations.

Features
  • Layered sodium silicate provides chelating performance comparable to sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) for calcium and magnesium ions, making it effective for water softening in detergent formulations.
  • It is highly compatible with different types of surfactants, especially non-ionic surfactants, which supports good detergency and gives more room for formulation adjustment.
  • This additive dissolves quickly in water, with at least 15 g able to dissolve in 10 ml, which helps it disperse more easily during production and application.
  • In addition to water softening, it also supports wetting, emulsifying, suspending, and anti-redeposition performance, while providing a suitable pH buffering effect within the formulation.
  • Its high active content and good whiteness is suitable for a wide range of detergent products, supporting both formulation performance and the appearance of the finished powder.
  • Since it's a phosphate-free additive, it can help improve slurry flowability and increase slurry solids content during production, which may reduce energy consumption and lower overall detergent manufacturing costs.
  • It can be used to partially or fully replace STPP, giving formulators more flexibility to balance performance, cost, and different market requirements.
